Lyft Deductions Calculator
Total every 2026 Lyft deduction — app-on miles, platform fees, phone, tolls, cleaning and supplies — and see the tax each one removes.
Deductions shrink Schedule C profit, and profit drives both your 15.3% self-employment tax and your income tax bracket. That double effect is why one tracked mile is worth far more than the fuel it burned.

Frequently asked questions
- Which deduction saves Lyft drivers the most?
- App-on mileage at $0.70 per mile. It routinely beats every other expense combined, and it is claimed from your own log rather than Lyft's on-trip figure.
- Are Lyft service fees a separate deduction?
- Yes, on Schedule C line 10. Your annual summary shows the exact commission and service fees Lyft withheld from gross ride receipts.
- Can I deduct water and mints for riders?
- Yes. Small rider amenities are ordinary business supplies. Keep the receipts and claim only what you bought for passengers.
- How do I split my phone bill?
- By business-use percentage based on driving hours against total use. Deduct that share of the plan and of the handset cost, and record how you calculated it.
- Is a rented or leased Lyft car deductible?
- Lease and rental payments are deductible at business-use percentage under the actual expense method. If you claim standard mileage instead, the rate already covers vehicle cost.
- What is not deductible?
- Commuting with the app off, your own meals between rides, everyday clothing, traffic tickets, and — under standard mileage — gas, repairs, insurance and depreciation.
